SUMMER CAMP

Camp Gitchigomee offers three separate weeks of overnight camp programming for children and youth. Campers enjoy both land and water activities each day!

Cost: $275 ($300 after June 1st, partial bursaries are available)

  • Junior (ages 7-9) – July 7-13
  • Senior (ages 13-15) – July 14-20
  • Intermediate (ages 10-12) – July 21-27

Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame

Discover Sports History

Visit the region’s only sports museum and hall of fame which features an exhibit gallery resembling the various venues of sport containing displays of artifacts celebrating the rich tradition of sport and a Hall of Fame honouring the athletes, builders and teams who have brought pride to the area through their many accomplishments.

Educational programs and tours are offered for schools and groups. A sports library and archives are available for researchers.

Located at 219 May Street South, beside City Hall, in Downtown Thunder Bay South, this heritage facility is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm with admission by donation.

Superior Science Summer Camps 2024

Join us for a summer of innovation and exploring the world of science! This year, we’re offering 7 weeks of camps for students in grades 1-8. Our programming includes a wide range of topics including engineering, coding, technology, chemistry, physics, biology, and much more!

Superior Science is a student-run, non-profit program based at Lakehead University that sparks children’s interests in science, engineering and technology through hands-on activities. At Superior Science we strive to create a fun and welcoming learning experience for your young scientists and aim to break down barriers to STEM education.

This year we are excited to offer our Girls Week, for female-identifying campers, where we encourage girls to explore areas of STEM and show that science is for everyone. We are also bringing back our popular Coding & Tech Week which will be running on August 6-9th for campers in grades 1-4, and August 12-16th for campers in grades 5-8. These weeks will offer campers a more focused experience with coding, programming, and the world of technology!

Thunder Bay Public Library

Summer Reading Club - All Library Locations

TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all interests and abilities, ages 0-12. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to explore the fun of reading their way. This is key to building a lifelong love of reading. It has been demonstrated that kids who read over the summer retain and build on the literacy skills that they have been practicing during the school year.

Participating kids will receive a free notebook and stickers to track their reading. TBPL will also have fun activities and initiatives for kids to take part in throughout the summer, culminating in a celebration party. Additionally, every week, your child will receive prizes or coupons for free stuff just for reading.

There’s something for everyone, including kids with print disabilities, and preschoolers and their families.
