Camp Gitchigomee

SUMMER CAMP

Camp Gitchigomee offers three separate weeks of overnight camp programming for children and youth. Campers enjoy both land and water activities each day!

Cost: $275 ($300 after June 1st, partial bursaries are available)

  • Junior (ages 7-9) – July 7-13
  • Senior (ages 13-15) – July 14-20
  • Intermediate (ages 10-12) – July 21-27

Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame

Discover Sports History

Visit the region’s only sports museum and hall of fame which features an exhibit gallery resembling the various venues of sport containing displays of artifacts celebrating the rich tradition of sport and a Hall of Fame honouring the athletes, builders and teams who have brought pride to the area through their many accomplishments.

Educational programs and tours are offered for schools and groups. A sports library and archives are available for researchers.

Located at 219 May Street South, beside City Hall, in Downtown Thunder Bay South, this heritage facility is open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm with admission by donation.

Thunder Bay Lacrosse League

Thunder Bay Lacrosse is an organization that has been around for 22 years, teaching and playing the game of lacrosse.

Whether for competitive or house league, we have options for all athletes. Beginners are part of all age groups.

Season runs from mid April to 3rd week of June, 2 days a week, Monday to Thursday. Days for each age group on website

Free Try Lacrosse with information and sign up is on website. Only helmet gloves and gym clothing required. Sticks provided.

Ultimate Frisbee League

Junior Giants is back for another year! After 4 successful seasons and growing interest we are planning our best year yet! New and returning players ages 9-14 are welcome.

The league has two age divisions consisting each of 4 mixed gender teams and a great team of experienced coaches. The league will run for 5 weeks on Wednesday nights, May 22nd until June 19th. Affordable registration includes a disc and a team jersey.

Junior Giants league is an inclusive space and all youth are welcome regardless of race, gender identity or expression, religion or economic status. We are a proud partner of PRO Kids.

Open to ALL players ages 4 to 15! (Based on the Little League Age Calculator). The JUNIOR division is back!  Players 13-15 years. CITY WIDE!!

PROGRAMS:

T Ball – ages 4 (as of May 1, 2024) to 6 years and Coach Pitch – ages 6 to 8 years:

Play Time at the Thunder Bay Museum

Did you know that the Thunder Bay Museum offers PA Days, March Break, and Summer Camps?

The March Break & Summer Camps at the Museum are full day, week long theme-based programs which run from 9:30am to 4:00pm (drop off is between 9:00am and 9:30am and pick up is between 4:00pm and 4:30pm).

PA Day camp times are the same as the week-long camps but, only for the single day.

Limited spaces are available and Museum members have early access to registration.

Campers must be 6 years of age by the start of their camp.
