Get to Know Our Program

Day camp for campers aged 5-13, with a heavy focus on nature and outdoor activities out at Chippewa Park. Campers get to experience a variety of activities, games and crafts in the great outdoors!

Registration

Registration for Summer 2024 will open on March 25th, 2024.

To register, visit PerfectMind or call (807) 625-TIME (8463).

Chippewa Summer Camps Registration Fees:

  • 5 day camp – $207
  • 5 day, second child –$175
  • 4 day camp – $175
  • 4 day, second child – $140

If registering more than one child, please call the Registration desk to receive a discount.

Transportation

Bus transportation will be provided for campers. Families can select either Volunteer Pool or Churchill Pool as designated Pick-up/Drop-off locations. Campers will be swimming daily in the afternoon at both pool locations.

Campers drop-off time is between 8-8:45am (buses leave at 9am sharp).

Campers pick-up time is between 4:30-5 PM daily.

  • For your child’s safety, we will require a completed Participant Information Form (provided at registration) to be emailed back to ChippewaSummerCamps@thunderbay.ca
  • New Evening Adventure at Chippewa Park. This year, we’re introducing a change to our sleep-out adventure. Instead of an overnight stay, Campers will experience a unique evening at Chippewa Park (see weeks 3 and 7 for Bears).
  • We are a nut-free program; nut products are not allowed at Chippewa Summer Camps

July 15-19 Amazing Race In this high-energy camp, teams will have to work together to make it to the pit-stop at the end of each day. The racers will follow clues as they travel across the park and complete challenges to see which team can work together the most successfully. But be careful, there are detours, roadblocks, and even U-turns which may trip up even the quickest team! *On Friday night, the challenges will end at an Evening at Chippewa event. Adventurers Camp

Adventurers Camp is a fun and inclusive day camp full of activities from crafts to karate and of course swimming, for kids ages 5 to 12!

Registration will be open March 25!

TOTS Camp   *ALL 5 year olds (as of December 31, 2024) will register for this programThey will be with the same group and same instructor all day. The program will be 9am Crafts, 10am Imagination Station &11am Monkey Business. Any of these activities may be substituted for a swimming lesson.

Swimming Lessons at Adventurers Camp 2024 will be registered by waitlist! If you are interested in a swimming lesson as one of the 3 morning options please select the waitlist option and you will be contacted prior to your camp starting to confirm a spot if available.

Kidventures

Kidventures is a program for kids 5-12 at Prince Arthur’s Landing! Each camp has an art filled morning with a local artist and an adventured filled afternoon with tons of activities all over Prince Arthur’s Landing. Depending on the weather, each camp gets to go sailing with a trained Captain from Sail Superior. Check out what’s happening at Kidventures this summer. Registration opens March 25!

Game On! July 22-26 Be prepared for an action-packed week as we put our athletic skills to the test! The staff will be coaching your kids to success as they compete in a variety of sports and playful crafts! Is there a sport superstar in the making? Game on!
Wild Wild West July 29-August 2 Howdy campers! Join us at Kidventures this week as we travel to the wild wild west. Join us from programming straight out of the old west.
Curious Minds & Creative Finds August 6-9 (4 Day Camp) This week is for Kidventures most creative campers! From science experiments to art attacks, this week will put our minds to the test!
Blast From The Past August 12-16 What a better way to end off summer than with a blast from the past! Break out the poodle skirts, or get ready for the disco. This groovy week will be full of rad activities for everyone!

Neighbourhood Recreation Program (NRP)

Mondays – Thursdays

NRP is a free, inclusive registered recreation program for children offered in the City of Thunder Bay.

Join our staff after the bell for crafts, games, activities and sports, as well as a daily snack! NRP runs at the school’s dismissal and runs for two hours.

Our Leaders are trained in First Aid, the High Five principles of Healthy Childhood Development, Behaviour Management, Inclusion, and more.

Drop-In

Youth Move Drop-In sites are year-round spaces where youth are free to stop by. Our Drop-In program features a variety of daily themes, such as Minute-To-Win-It, STEM, Art, Fitness, and Game-On! We provide a snack each day, an opportunity to be active and activities that get youth socializing with other youth ages 10-18. We run our program out of 4 locations Kinsmen Youth Centre, Minnesota Park, North End Rec Centre, and Canada Games Complex. See below a schedule of our drop-in locations and times for spring 2024.

Special Events

Special Events occur at various locations around Thunder Bay. These include themed activities at our locations and outings with community partners (rock climbing, escape room, etc). These events must be registered for in advance by calling (807) 625-8463 or going to Perfect Mind. Special events range in pricing from $0 – $25.

How-To

Our How-To Program is a skill building program for youth. We provide multi-session events to help youth strengthen their skills in different areas such as: cooking, crocheting, painting, golf, etc. This program is offered on a designated weekday evening over a series of weeks. These events must be registered for in advance by calling (807) 625-8463 or going to Perfect Mind.

Teens 'n Training

T’nT is a dynamic course that empowers youth volunteers through
training, leadership development and fun!

Registration is open to youth ages 13 (who are grade 8 graduates)
through 16.

This training is mandatory in order to volunteer with the following summer camp programs:

Facilitating the inclusion of Children & Youth with disabilities in the Recreation & Culture Divisions’ Programming

  • JIS support is FREE! (not including registration fees)
  • A site or virtual visit will be conducted prior to the start of support
  • To initially apply for JIS, complete a Participant Intake Form
  • The Spring AND Summer Request Lists for support are opening on Feb 25/24. Please contact us prior to registering for a program.
