Youth Move

Youth Move is for anyone between the ages of 10 to 18 looking for ways to get involved in the community, make some new friends and try different activities. Youth Move has drop-in sites after school all around the city and registered special events on the weekends.

Keep an eye on our socials for YOUTH WEEK (May 1 – 7) which will include complimentary activities hosted around our city as well as our summer youth camps that will take place out of the Kinsmen Youth Centre and Minnesota Park (Art Widnall Building) all of July and August.

Neighbourhood Recreation Program (NRP)

GRADES SK-5

Mondays – Thursdays

NRP is a free, inclusive registered recreation program for children offered in the City of Thunder Bay.

Join our staff after the bell for crafts, games, activities and sports, as well as a daily snack! NRP runs at the school’s dismissal and runs for two hours.

Our Leaders are trained in First Aid, the High Five principles of Healthy Childhood Development, Behaviour Management, Inclusion, and more.

Pathways, Youth Job Readiness Workshop is a hands-on workshop designed to help young people build essential employment skills and confidence.

Participants will explore their strengths, develop workplace-ready skills, and earn a customer service certification.

Led by local employment professionals, this interactive workshop provides practical tools, guidance, and connections to help youth take the next step toward meaningful employment.

The Personal Attendant for Leisure (PAL) Card is issued to a person with a disability, enabling their support person access to a facility that accepts the PAL Card, at no cost.

The PAL Card is accepted at City of Thunder Bay recreation programs and recreation facilities, as well as a number of private recreation facilities in the community. Email us for an up to date list.

Camps

Adventurers Camp is a fun and inclusive day camp for kids ages 5 to 12, offering a variety of activities—from crafts to karate and, of course, swimming!

Session Dates:

  • Session 1: June 29-July 10 (9-day camp, no camp July 1)
  • Session 2: July 13-24
  • Session 3: July 27- August 7 (9-day camp, no camp August 3)
  • Session 4: August 10-21
  • Session 5: August 24 – September 4

Fees:

  • 2-week session: $322.69 (first child), $274.76 (additional children)
  • 1-week camp: $220.46 (first child), $1186.37 (additional children)
  • 1-week camp with Private Swimming Lessons: $309.91 (first child), $270.50 (additional children)

Adventurers Camp Morning Registration Options

TOTS Camp

All 5-year-olds (as of December 31, 2026) will register for this program. They will stay with the same group and instructor throughout the day.

Daily Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM – Crafts
  • 10:00 AM – Imagination Station
  • 11:00 AM – Monkey Business

Any of these activities may be substituted for a swimming lesson.

Swimming Lessons at Adventurers Camp

Swimming lessons will be registered by waitlist. If you’d like a swimming lesson as one of the three morning activities, please select the waitlist option. You will be contacted before your camp session starts if a spot becomes available.

Outdoor day camp for campers aged 5-12, with a heavy focus on nature and outdoor activities out at Chippewa Park. Campers get to experience a variety of activities, games and crafts in the great outdoors!

An art and adventure filled program for kids ages 5–12 at Prince Arthur’s Landing! Programming for summer 2026 will run from July 13 – August 21.

  • 5-Day Camp: $220.46 (first child), $186.37 (additional children)
  • 4-Day Camp: $186.37 (first child), $149.10 (additional children)

All fees are subject to City Council approval.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Location: Marina Park Main Field.

Registration opens April 7 at 10am!

Playgrounds runs Monday-Friday from 9:30am-4:00pm. Confirmation of site locations and start dates will come in the later spring. Participants aged 5 (by the end of 2026)-12 will play games, complete crafts and enjoy themed days.

We are a drop in-program, so no pre-registration is required. Please note we experience high volumes at some of our sites and often reach capacity. Admission into the program is at a first come, first serve basis.
